Introduction to Sailboat Racing, an interactive, online four-hour (two sessions) class on Zoom for sailors new to racing or interested in learning to race,  Mondays, May 3 and 10, 2021, 6:00 - 8:00 pm.

Topics include: types of sailboat racing; racing available on the Hudson and in other locations,  basic sailboat racing structure, understanding documents such as the Notice of Race, Sailing Instructions, Charts, and Courses, an introduction to The Racing Rules of Sailing, and resources for more information.

Focus will be on local Hudson River racing, but sailors from other venues will find the information relevant for them as well.  $36 / $40 for the two classes. 

Instructor: Jody Sterling, racing skipper, experienced on many types of small sailboats;  cruising sailor with experience as captain aboard 40 foot keelboats; owner of a 1977 C & C 26 keelboat; board member of the Kingston Sailing Club and director of The Sailing School at the Hudson River Maritime Museum, English professor emeritus at Dutchess Community College. Credentials: Captain’s License (25 Ton Masters), US Sailing Basic Keelboat Instructor, US Sailing Small Boat Level One Instructor.
