Riverport Women's Sailing Conference, March 24-25, 2023

The sixth annual Riverport Women's Sailing Conference (RWSC) will be in person and will take place on the campus of the Hudson River Maritime Museum in Kingston, New York.  Co-sponsored by the Kingston Sailing Club, the RWSC welcomes women and people who have not traditionally been able to learn to sail into the maritime community and offers them opportunity to grow and improve their sailing skills. All interested people are welcome to register.  Conference Registration Deadline is Monday, March 20.  

Late Registration (+$10 ) available March 20-24. Late registrants will select the individual workshops they wish to attend from the remaining open workshops on Saturday morning, March 25. 

Join us on Friday, March 24th,  from 6:00 to 9:00 pm, at The Anchorage, for a welcome dinner and keynote address, which will be delivered by Captain Stefany Coulter, who will talk about her inspirational SailHope program, which brings people who normally do not have access out sailing.   

Conference registrants will enjoy breakfast, lunch and a day full of workshops on a variety of marine topics Saturday, March 25th.  Participants will be able to choose between four and eight workshops / presentations to attend between 9 am and 5 pm.  Some are longer, hands-on workshops and others are shorter 45 minute presentations. All will be presented by skilled, experienced women mariners. 

Lecture/Discussions Include:  Environmental Education & Sail Training; The Science of Sailing; Becoming A Boat Owner; Sailing & Sustainability;  Basic Inland Navigation Rules; Coastal and Offshore Passage Planning; Weather for the Mariner;  Introduction to Racing; Focus on Women Mariners Museum Gallery Tour; Spinnaker Racing;  and Double-handed Racing

Hands-On Workshops Include: Diesel Maintenace; Navigation at Sea (with paper charts); Outboard Engine Troubleshooting; Sail Care & Repair;  Knots and Line Management.

Virtual Attendance Workshops: Terrestrial Navigation, Sailing & Sustainability, Spinnaker Racing, Coastal and & Offshore Passages, and Weather for the Mariner

The day will conclude with a networking event with local women sailors who will share opportunities for sailing in our area plus exciting door prizes. 

The Friday, March 24 Keynote dinner At the Anchorage.   Cost  $48

The Saturday, March 25 conference cost is $85 per individual, $80 for HRMM individual members, and $75 for HRMM household members. Student Registration (for youth ages 14 - 20) is available for a discounted rate of $60.  All in-person registrations include breakfast, lunch and attendance at between four and eight workshops or presentations.  

Virtual Registration is $50 per individual, $45 for HRMM individual members and $40 for HRMM household members and includes attendance at five workshops listed above.
