The Wooden Boat School's Foundations of Woodworking series of classes provides practicing and aspiring woodworkers with the fundamental knowledge and best practices that are essential for the craft of woodworking. In this fourth course of the series, students will be introduced to joinery, using hand tools to create half lap, mortise and tenon, and box joints. A limited class size ensures all students will gain hands-on experience in the fundamentals of joinery.

This three-day class takes place in the shop at the HRMM Wooden Boat School located at 86 Rondout Landing in Kingston's historic Rondout district.

Instructor: Wayne Ford is a master woodworker and shipwright with extensive timber framing experience. He teaches a wide range of woodworking classes, YouthBoat boatbuilding, timber framing, and special project classes at the Wooden Boat School.

The Wooden Boat School was founded by the Hudson River Maritime Museum in 2015 to preserve the maritime craft traditions of the Hudson Valley and to teach a hands-on interpretation of the living history of the Hudson River. The school offers diverse curriculum and opportunities which inspire skills in woodworking, boat building, and maritime crafts. Restoration services for wooden boats are also available.
