Boatbuilding Class: Kingston Pram
Description
Come join us for this hands-on boatbuilding course where students work as a team building a Kingston Pram from start to finish. This is a unique opportunity to work with a master woodworker and shipwright, Wayne Ford, whose experience includes participating in the restoration of the sloop Woody Guthrie and the sloop Clearwater. Wayne will lead this course over three full days, teaching the team how to work together to successfully construct a small boat, and sharing the insights that come from decades of boatbuilding experience.
The boat you will build is a Kingston Pram and it has an ideal structure for the beginning boatbuilder. It's a compact rowboat that is compact enough to be carried on the top of a car. Length: 8'1" / Beam (width at widest point): 3'11" / Height: 1'2" / Draft (depth below the water): 4".
Students will have the opportunity to purchase the boat when the class is completed. The cost will be approximately $800-1000.
