Introduction to Lofting
Description
Lofting a boat is the process by which boat dimensions are drawn to full scale on the lofting floor. From these two dimensional drawings, molds and patterns can be made to build a boat. Shipwright Wayne Ford will lead a class introducing students to the principles of lofting. You will share in the full scale layout of a traditional wooden boat up to 12 feet in length, giving you the understanding of how a drawing is transformed into the parts of a boat, and enough hands-on experience for you to loft your own vessel.
