How To: Shaker Tape Weaving
Description
The Shakers preferred to use tape on the seats and backs of stools and chairs for durability and strength. Come join us for this class to explore the historic art of building furniture and weaving the seat. Using a stool you bring to class, you will weave the seat with 100% cotton Shaker tape.
NOTE: Class tuition and materials fee does NOT include the stool itself. There are three options for supplying your stool: (1) students who attend the Build A Stool class on Nov. 1-2 can add a seat to the stool they built, (2) you can bring a stool or chair that needs a new seat, or (3) you can purchase an assembled stool from us foran additional $15 (while supplies last). To do this, please select the "Add Stool" option under "Event Session" during checkout.

Instructor: Janice has sewn since childhood and started out teaching macrame, then caning until she went into upholstery. Eventually she combined the two (caning and upholstery) as a business. Janice has worked with wicker and natural rush. While she retired in 2015, Janice still enjoys teaching and demonstrating these techniques.
