Build A Stool

11/02/2024 09:00 AM - 11/03/2024 05:00 PM ET

Description

Learn how to build a full-size stool in this two-day weekend woodworking class with staff instructor Max Smith. Using a variety of power tools and hand woodworking tools, you'll create a stool with your personal touch while practicing tool techniques and getting real time feedback from an expert woodworker. Max will also share his knowledge of wood finishing to help you protect your new piece of heirloom furniture.

Although this class does not have strict prerequisites, it is designed for students who have taken our Foundations of Woodworking course, or who have equivalent shop experience with basic power tools like the table saw, chop saw, and block planes. While making your stool, you'll also get practice using less common tools like the spokeshave.

After completing this class, we recommend taking a follow-up class in seat weaving. You can learn how to finish your stool with either Shaker tape weaving on Dec. 8 or with fiber rush weaving on Dec. 21. These low-cost, half-day weaving classes take place on Sundays.
