Wood Finishing Basics

03/24/2025 06:00 PM - 03/25/2025 09:00 PM ET

Description

Perhaps you've recently completed your woodworking project but feel a little uneasy about finishes ruining it? In this two-evening class, we will review wood surface preparation, survey various stains and finishes on the market, understand how they work, and practice applying finish to enhance the beauty of your woodworking projects.

You'll gain insight into the behaviors of different finishes like polyurethane, spar varnish, Danish oil, furniture wax, and various stains. You will also try the French polish technique, and practice wood surface preparation. You don't need to bring anything to class, but feel free to bring an unfinished woodworking project if you want to try finishing it with the guidance of the instructor.
