Renovating a Fiberglass Sailboat: A Discussion and Tour

07/20/2025 01:00 PM - 05:00 PM ET

Description

New sailboat owners Max Smith and Jen DeYoung will discuss the major overhaul of their Rhodes 22 sailboat including demolition, re-coring a wet foredeck, fiberglassing, interior design of a settee and galley, and deck hardware maintenance. They will break this kind of project down into accomplishable stages while remaining focused on the goal of getting the boat out on the water and sailing. After the discussion, they will take you on a tour of the boat, showing and explaining the repairs and improvements they made, and the next steps to take.

This is your chance to learn about the steps involved in boat renovation, planning for the weather, and breaking big tasks down into smaller, more manageable ones. You'll become familiar with various products considered for use in the renovation including core materials, polyester vs. epoxy resins, gel coat, bedding compounds, and more.

No prior experience is needed, but this class is geared towards boat owners looking to take on DIY projects.
